North Carolina to Host Southeast Marathon Mountain Bike Championships

Charlotte Sports Cycling is proud to announce they have teamed up
with the US National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC to host the
Widmer Brothers Rivers Edge Mountain Bike Marathon. The 50 mile
mountain bike race on Sunday, September 7 will serve as USA Cycling's
Southeast Marathon Championships. We are extremely excited to host the
event and crown twelve
deserving champions at the Rivers Edge Mountain Bike Race at the US National Whitewater Center.

7 Summits Challenge Draws Adventurers from all Over B.C.

The second annual 7 Summits Bike and Hike Challenge in the mountains around Wells and Barkerville is set for September 14.

Riders,
runners and hikers will start at Barkerville and spend the entire day
getting to Wells, after travelling over seven mountains in seven stages
and climbing over 7,000 vertical feet.

Last year's event was epic says event coordinator Dave Jorgenson in his press release about the event.

New Jersey Auto, Bike Dealers Sponsor Bike Fest

Subaru Mount Olive, Saturn of Denville, Saturn of Livingston and
Saturn of Mount Olive are joining title sponsor Marty's Reliable Cycle
(with stores in Morristown, Randolph and Hackettstown) as sponsors of
the inaugural JORBA Bike Festival, "a celebration of New Jersey
mountain biking," which will begin at 10 a.m. Sept. 13 at the Waterloo
Village Concert Field in Byram. The goal of the event is to promote
responsible trail stewardship and cycling advocacy, as well as to
increase awareness of the sport in New Jersey.

Bennett Gets Extra Day to Heal, Olympic Races Off

BEIJING -- American BMX racer Kyle Bennett will get an extra day to rest his injured shoulder.

The
men's and women's Olympic BMX semifinals and medal races were rained
out Thursday, giving Bennett -- the three-time world champion from
Conroe, Texas, who dislocated his left shoulder in a nasty crash during
a quarterfinal heat -- an additional 24 hours to recover before racing
again.

The 2009 San Diego Custom Bicycle Show

San Diego, Calif. (August 2008) Many of California’s finest
custom bicycle frame builders will converge on San Diego April 3-5,
2009 for the 2009 San Diego Custom Bicycle Show. The event, which will
take place at San Diego’s Town and Country Hotel and Convention Center,
will highlight the amazing skill level of California’s custom bike
frame builders, both full-time professionals and part-time hobbyists.
Admission is $10 per day (or $18 for the entire three days), and for
frame builders, a 10’ x 10’ booth space can be secured for only $450.

SoCal Interscholastic Cycling League Launched

OAKLAND , CA — The Northern California
High School Mountain Bike Racing League (NorCal League) will launch the
Southern California Interscholastic Cycling League (SoCal League), in
the 2009 academic year, with grant support from the Easton Sports
Development Foundation II (ESDF II).

The new league is based on the successful model of the NorCal
League, now in its eighth year, which currently has reached a
membership of over 400 high schoolers, 150 coaches, and 35 schools from
within the region.
