Crossover to Mountain Biking

By emerald on 8/10/2008 on emerald's blog

Still
love mountaineering; matter of fact, i'll always be a mountaineer at
heart...But times change and people change with it...Some of the
trekking companions seemed to have moved on to other things apart from
the outdoors. Some have heeded to the economic calls of life...

I did it!

I did it. I took a ride today for the first time in 9 months. My legs are sore. Not as sore as they normally would be, however, I got all jacked up on creatine and OJ a few hours before leaving. I'm feeling pretty good. Endorohins are flowing, I'm going to sleep good tomight!

Life is good again.

By NVMtBiker on 7/19/2008 on NVMtBiker's blog

It rained the other day. I know, big deal. But you have to understand that smoke from the fires in California has been thick as fog. Most days I haven't been able to see Mt. Rose, which is maybe 15 air miles from my front porch. Some days I haven't been able to see the hills just a mile from the house. It's been like some sort of post-apocalyptic trial run.

There's warnings every day on the TV about air quality and particulates and ozone levels. When I get in my car to go to work, there's this fine dusting of flour-like ash on the paint.

Look out! Here comes a fat guy on a mountain bike!

I put new tubes and tires with a less aggressive tread on the beast last night. I rode down the block and back. All I can say is that it was like getting felt up by the prom queen before the dance. I have been twitchy and distracted ever since I hung the bike back up in the shop.

I have something I have to do with the family this morning, and then I have a side job to do in my shop. I am going to have move the bike to where I can't see it while I'm working or I won't be able to concentrate.

Time to ride!

I have been off the bike since last October. I got pneumonia and got promoted to a position that burns a lot of time. I have hit 240 lbs. AND THAT'S IT! I am tired of being tired. I am tired of having to exhale all my air just to tie my shoes. I am tired of being a fatt ass and sweating at the thought of doing something. Heck, my wife doesn't....well, If you went from 210lbs of bulging leg muscles to a blob of fat, what would your wife "think" of you?

Biking in Southern Oregon

By rmorballl on 6/29/2008 on rmorballl's blog

I am looking for people or groups to ride various areas in S. Oregon. My favorites are Lakes trails near Lake of the Woods, Applegate Lake, and Lost Creek, but am open to any suggestions for new rides. I am an intermediate level rider and live in Medford. Anyone interested is welcome to call me at (541) 890-2632. Thanks and happy trails, Rick.

Sorry, I'm Late Again To The Party

By walker on 6/3/2008 on walker's blog

Well, well, well, look he decided to show up? I've been riding (and working) so much that I've neglected my blog duties. That's just got to change. Life is good folks, sorry for not showing my head around here lately. Here's a quick one to keep you entertained on a Tuesday:

Buying a new bike is a lot like courting a new significant other. Sometimes you pick the right one and then they don't work out, immediately. That's kind of what happened to me. As for buying new bikes you'll want to:

1. Ride it

2. Ride it again, if the geometry is right

EVOMO 4th and 5th at WEMS Opener

By EVOMO on 5/27/2008 on EVOMO's blog

What a way to spend Memorial Day weekend than on the trails racing for 12 hours. Friday night brought me up to Green Bay to stay with Jesse and Steve from Performa Racing prior to meeting Brando at the roadhouse. Getting up at the butt crack of dawn isn't always in my best interest as I am night person, but with 12 hour on the bike ahead of me there is no way I could do any wrong today as I jammed to...
